Chairman to Move into Chairman Emeritus Role

ST. LOUIS (July 24, 2020) – UniGroup, a $1.6 billion transportation company, announced today its Board of Director Chairman Barry Vaughn is stepping down from his position as chairman and will move into the role of Chairman Emeritus at the completion of his two-year term this fall.

Vaughn served as the chief executive officer of the Suddath Companies before retiring in 2015 and currently serves as vice chairman on Suddath’s board of directors. Barry has been an engaged and active transportation industry influencer for the last 47 years. He has served on the UniGroup board of directors since 2004 and filled numerous roles. Vaughn also actively participates in FIDI and OMNI and recently served on the American Moving and Storage Association’s (AMSA) board.

As UniGroup chairman, Vaughn was a change agent. He laid a strong foundation for both the board and UniGroup leadership on how to successfully move the enterprise forward.

“UniGroup’s transformation efforts have made considerable and sustainable progress under Barry’s leadership,” UniGroup President and CEO Marc Rogers said. “Barry has been dedicated to improving the customer experience, and we are pleased he will continue to support the UniGroup enterprise moving forward as Chairman Emeritus.”

“I have been part of the UniGroup family for nearly 40 years,” Vaughn said. “This has been a very difficult decision, and one I made only after consultation with my family and close associates. Serving on the UniGroup board of directors for the last 16 years, I have had the unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the future of the organization. With UniGroup’s positive transformation well underway and the dedication I have seen to innovation and customer experience, I know the timing is right for my decision.”

Vaughn will continue to serve as Chairman until the conclusion of September’s Shareholder Meeting. As Chairman Emeritus, he will continue to support UniGroup and its subsidiaries. The new Chairman will be determined following elections held at the September Shareholder’s Meeting.
