UniGroup Receives Environmental Award

ST. LOUIS (Nov. 7, 2018) – Altair Global Relocation presented UniGroup with its Super-Star Award for Environmental Consciousness during its October global network supplier luncheon. A panel of judges evaluates each nomination based on the following criteria: quality of results and environmental outcomes achieved, initiative’s degree of innovation and uniqueness and demonstration of good environmental and sustainability practice. Factors such as influencing the practices of others through awareness campaigns, supply chain engagement, B2B collaboration and employee education are also taken into consideration.

“Our mission is to provide a premier customer experience and profitable growth for our agency network through our service-centric culture,” said Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Rebecca Peterson. “With an emphasis on quality, innovation and safety, we are committed to delivering industry-leading transportation solutions. We recognize that to achieve this mission, we must operate with an eye toward sustainability and are pleased Altair recognized our ongoing efforts to reduce our footprint in a socially responsible and sustainable way.”

The main UniGroup sustainability project highlighted in the award nomination was the 100-kilowatt solar installation on the roof of its 184,000 square foot headquarters, which produces $18,000 worth of electricity (up to 10 percent of its electricity needs). Other initiatives included installation of induction in parking lots and LED lighting in the building, ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations as well as providing directions to improve the environmental performance of our agents, contractors and employees.
